Vinted Users Express Anger Regarding Sizing Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for female and kids' apparel but did not contact every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a different size category compared to what was initially listed due to the recalibration.
The platform stated the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
It has advised users to review their products and adjust the sizing manually if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Updates
Previously, the measurements included numerical and alphabetical indicators, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
Shopper Accounts
A fashion influencer, who creates plus-size fashion videos, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, based in Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were appearing on the platform as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained.
Required Changes
Another shopper, based in Derby, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, because of my ongoing medical condition and platform income has been essential after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance where an unanticipated change on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
